Sapphire Hair Transplant

The Sapphire FUE technique was for many years one of the most widely used methods in hair transplantation. Many clinics still offer it today, and it was previously used here at Bio Hair Clinic.

However, medical advancements have since redefined the gold standard. With the introduction of the DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique, we’re now achieving results that are more precise, more natural-looking, and significantly gentler on the scalp.

That’s why we now exclusively use the latest and most advanced technology for implanting your hair grafts.

Sapphire FUE: A Proven Method, But Outdated

Sapphire FUE was once considered a cutting-edge method for implanting hair follicles into the recipient area.

Thanks to its V-shaped sapphire blades, it offered more precise incisions compared to traditional steel tools, minimising trauma to the scalp and promoting quicker recovery after surgery.

It produced solid and reliable outcomes. But today, the technique has been surpassed in every way by DHI.

How does the Sapphire method work?

  • V-shaped incisions are made in the recipient area using a sapphire blade
  • Hair follicles are then inserted manually into these pre-opened channels, following the natural hair growth direction

Why We No Longer Use the Sapphire FUE Technique

Despite its successes to date, the technique has reached its limits in several areas and is now considered technically outdated. The procedure is more complex and places more stress on the tissue than necessary.

The channel opening and graft insertion are performed separately. This means more steps and thus twice the stress on your scalp.

For us it is clear: if there is a better option, we will use it.

Looking Ahead: It’s Time for Progress

The Sapphire FUE hair transplant was an effective method, delivering solid and natural results. It was also used at the Bio Hair Clinic for a long time. However, medical technology and methodology is always changing for the better.
Today, there is a more efficient technique that is gentler on your scalp and allows for even more precise graft placement. Therefore, we deliberately no longer offer the Sapphire method.

Instead, we offer only the most modern technologies and the most up-to-date procedures for truly impressive results. With the DHI method, we focus on medical innovation, efficiency, and individualized, natural results.

For us, one thing is clear: If a method is no longer state-of-the-art, we will no longer use it. Our goal is to offer you a treatment that not only works, but also impresses in every respect.

FAQ

What is the Sapphire FUE method?

Sapphire FUE involves opening channels in the recipient area using a sapphire blade before inserting the hair follicles. It’s a solid technique – but no longer meets today’s medical standards.

Is the DHI technique better than Sapphire FUE?

Yes. DHI allows for far more precise control during implantation and is much gentler on the scalp, resulting in better outcomes with less stress on the tissue.

Is the Sapphire method unsafe?

Not at all. It was used successfully around the world for many years. However, newer techniques like DHI now offer superior results with less strain and faster recovery.

What were the benefits of the Sapphire technique?

The V-shaped sapphire blades allowed for precise channel openings and helped ensure natural hair growth direction and shorter recovery times. But even so, it’s now considered outdated compared to newer techniques.

What’s important when it comes to aftercare?

Thanks to advances in technology, both outcomes and recovery have improved significantly. Clinics working with modern standards have largely moved away from Sapphire FUE in favour of DHI.

Is the Sapphire method still recommended in some cases?

Not at our clinic. There are no current medical or aesthetic scenarios in which the Sapphire method would offer an advantage over modern techniques like DHI. That’s why we’ve fully transitioned away from using it.
