Scalp micropigmentation with Bio Hair Clinic

If you suffer from ever-thinning hair or bald spots, you have many treatment options available. In addition to special care products, there is the hair transplant and the scalp micropigmentation. The latter can be a good alternative to a surgery. Learn more about whether micropigmentation is for you and what is behind the term.

What is the hair pigmentation?

In this procedure, pigments are stung under the skin, as in a tattoo or permanent make-up. The difference in the scalp micropigmentation is that the colors are implanted only 0.6 to 1.2 millimeters into the skin. The colors used are made of hypoallergenic biological materials (free of heavy metals).

This means for you that the pigments do not have a toxic effect on your body. In addition, they do not trigger allergies. The technique of cosmetic pigmentation is very different from conventional hair surgery. Think of it more like a tattoo, although the scars are much finer than a traditional tattoo.

When can a micropigmentation be considered ?

Is a scalp micropigmentation treatment really right for you ? You can easily find that out in the free consultation our experts provides. All in all a hair pigmentation will get you good results with these types of hair loss:

A micropigmentation can also be performed if you have long hair. It can improve the appearance of the clear areas where the scalp shines through. A micro-hair pigmentation can also be used in addition to a hair transplant. For example, to visually fill up the donor area.

The steps to hair pigmentation

You should refrain from alcohol, blood thinning medication and other intoxicants 24 hours before treatment. Those can dilute the blood, which can lead to excessive bleeding during hair pigmentation.

The first session lasts on average 2 to 4 hours. It is followed by another 1 or 2 sessions, but those do not take that long. Additionally a scalp pigmentation is usually less painful than a regular tatoo.

Moreover the results are immediately visible after the procedure. After the redness disappears, it can not be seen that a hair pigmentation has been made. Even if you look closely, the difference to normal hair will not be visible.

Despite the comparaisons the hair pigmentation is not really like a true tattoo. Especially since the pigments fade after 3 to 6 years. To put it another way, it is not permanent and a refresher will be needed. Especially if you want to continue to see a good result.

Which techniques are used for hair pigmentation?

Various techniques can be used for a scalp micropigmentation. The decision will depend on two factors: the current state of your hair and the desired result.

The dot technique is used to fill completely bald heads. Here only the smallest points are tattooed on the scalp. These points make an optical fullness of the hair.

For the comma technique fine hairs are recorded. This visually condenses the light hair. In mixed technique or camouflage technique, shadows are used for scalp pigmentation.

Successful hair pigmentation – and then?

Hair pigmentation is not a tattoo or surgery. Nevertheless, some guidelines should be followed afterwards. This ensures that you enjoy the result for a long time.

The pigments are only superficially stung in the skin. Therefore no wounds or scars develop after the procedure. Nevertheless, it is recommended to be in a clean and dust-free environment after the hair pigmentation.

The durability of the pigments is prolonged if you use a sunscreen with at least SPF 20. Sunlight bleaches the pigments used early on. Sunscreen reduces this influence and thus prolongs the shelf life of the pigments. You will be able to enjoy the result for much longer.
